Alphonso is a data and advertising company focused on TV data, viewership, and targeting of TV audiences. Alphonso collects data about consumers TV viewing habits, including the shows and advertisements you watch through your Smart TV. They hold a number of patents in the area of automatic content recognition (ACR) which are applied to TV retargeting and TV ad analytics. Their ACR software can be found in mobile apps and use the microphone to sample audio to determine if specific content is being viewed on a set-top box, media player, gaming console, broadcast, or other video source (e.g. streaming).
